Nakhane Touré is a South African actor, singer and accomplished author. Born Nakhane Mavuso in 1988, in a town called Alice in the Eastern Cape, he grew up within an actively musical family. His debut album entitled Brave Confusion – the title derived from James Baldwin’s novel, Go Tell it on the Mountains – received outstanding reviews, resulting in four nominations at the South African Music Awards including Album of the Year and Best Newcomer. As an author, his debut novel Piggy Boy’s Blues has enjoyed wide success, resulting in it being taught at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. The Wound is Nakhane’s first feature film and a welcome addition to an already accomplished career.
